The garden space at Providence Zen Center has experienced varied degrees of use over its life time. Through some committed house members, community, and the Permaculture Program, we are now utilizing nearly all of the long vacant zen center garden space. This year along with growing some staples for the Providence Zen Center Kitchen, we have committed to growing many of the ingredients found in KimChi as part of a way to raise funds to support our work developing the land and engaging the community.
This years crops include:
– Chinese Cabbage, Popcorn, Dicon Radish, Carrot, Garlic, Various Potato Varieties, Sweet Potatoes, Red Emerald Peppers, Eggplant, Habenaro Peppers, Ghost Peppers, Watermelon, Horseradish, Valerian, Asparagus, Summer Squash, Bell Peppers, and Cherry Tomatoes to name a few.
